Australia is a harsh place, the water quality can be poor by comparison, the temps are high, fishing pressure is heavy, and food is poor. the biggest difference I see is when turning over rocks, the food count in a US mountain stream is "extraordinary" to me, and I've never seen a hatch like you get on your rivers on any river here. amazing!Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05367712526601241590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952460912398461727.post-14963963699490352432013-10-30T20:39:51.670-07:002013-10-30T20:39:51.670-07:00It is a pretty place Steph.

Although I complain about the trees, shrubs, and deadfall snags, it is these that protect the fish and "replentish" the stream. So, I take these areas in stride. I know that there are likely fish in those spots that I can't cast to, but I know that those fish will keep a population in the open spots as well.

-Tom
Tom Davishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18240935660681343164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952460912398461727.post-65011329689166555272013-10-28T09:27:56.679-07:002013-10-28T09:27:56.679-07:00Hi Wesley,

In small, tight streams I use my headcam instead of third person view since the headcam doesn't get caught up in the branches as much. The head can has a forced perspective however. This makes showing techniques less effective.

-TomTom Davishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18240935660681343164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952460912398461727.post-41847407942841885982013-10-28T02:40:15.392-07:002013-10-28T02:40:15.392-07:00wow. in australia,a stream like this would be dev...wow. in australia,a stream like this would be devoid of trout, not enough water so not enough cover and anyway in summer the temps would kill them, not enough food; even for fingerlings, let alone thumpers adolescents like you photo-ed; you are sooo lucky in the USCraighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05367712526601241590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952460912398461727.post-58910672352947259892013-10-28T01:04:24.453-07:002013-10-28T01:04:24.453-07:00The "thin blue lines" - your piscatorial...The "thin blue lines" - your piscatorial version of William Least Heat-Moon's "Blue Highways?"Lynn Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02885808956452761511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952460912398461727.post-76824951621609134562013-10-27T19:19:52.644-07:002013-10-27T19:19:52.644-07:00Tom
