Contact Nymphing - December 18, 2020

Tenkara rods are great for tight line or contact nymphing. They are light and well balanced, and they are able to keep the line off the water better than just about any set up. It's not Japanese tenkara, but contact nymphing with a tenkara rod is a very effective way to fish.

I mainly use contact nymphing techniques during the winter months, as it is the time that the trout in my mountain streams hold tightly to the bottom. I don't live near many tailwaters, and so my streams get cold in the winter. Contact nymphing is the most effective way for me to fish, when the water temperatures are so cold.

Here is video of some fish that I took the other day. In winter I typically only fish for about an hour, but that's enough time to hook a number of fish.

  1. Привет, Том. Это Сергей ТенкараПРИМ. Поясни , пожалуйста, выражение " tight line or contact nymphing". Не совсем понял, о чём ты это сказал. Есть несколько вариантов ловли на нимфы, но я не понял о чём ты сказал конкретно. Можешь и на почту мне ответить. С рисунком снасти.
